Research interests
Prof. Baron-Epel's research interests include health promotion, social epidemiology, health behaviors and inequalities in health between Arabs and Jews. During the last 10 years her work included areas such as discrimination, social support, social capital and their relation to health. Many of her studies try to decipher the effects of social determinant of health and health behaviors among the different groups living in Israel. In addition, she studies health literacy and injury prevention in association with the social determinants of health. Her research methodologies include quantitative and qualitative methods.
Prof. Baron-Epel is also involved in evaluating health promotion interventions in the community using these methods. She has published over 140 peer reviewed scientific papers in top scientific journals and edited “Health Promotion From Theory to Practice”, the book serves as the basic textbook for students of health promotion in Israel.
